A cancer diagnosis can be devastating.
While fear can turn to hope as treatment
options are considered, that hope is tempered
by the sometimes overwhelming specter of
weeks – or months – of costly
and potentially uncomfortable treatment.
A leader in cancer diagnosis and treatment
in mid-Missouri since 1985, Audrain Medical
Center’s Cancer Screening Center is
a state and regional model of excellence
and has received national recognition for
its quality service and its innovative approach
to cancer screening. Since the 1980s, Audrain
Medical Center screened more than 31,000
men and women for early signs of some of
the most common forms of cancer.
Cancer patients and their families in this
mid-Missouri region had to travel more than
90-mile daily roundtrips for weeks at a
time to receive appropriate treatment. AMC’s
vision was to create a Comprehensive Cancer
Center that would serve residents of Mexico
and the region with caring, patient-centered
screening, radiation and chemotherapy services
in a state-of-the-art facility.
